End of the World

6.9.07

I sincerely apologize for the stagnant state of the site for the past few weeks, but I have a good excuse - I've been on the road (actually the skies) traveling and shooting. As I write this I'm actually in sunny (pre-dawn) Hawaii (Kauai) getting ready to hike a small portion of the Na Pali Coast. I'll try and get a few more shots online before I get home, but by then expect a flurry of new photos from my trips.

This shot was taken near Kona on The Big Island at a huge cliff dubbed simply "The End of the World." There was a decent crowd of locals gathered at the spot, which helped fuel the adrenaline needed to launch ourselves off the thirty foot precipice into the raging seas below. They also informed us how to time the jump just right so the tide would pull us out of the clear blue cove below back out into the ocean, rather than pummeling us against the rocks (which one unlucky jumper experienced first hand). The jump was our initiation into our Hawaiian adventure. This is John making his first leap of faith.
